About: VOLTA is an independent Branding & Design studio based in the city of Porto in 2012. We design meaningful, immersive brands and experiences, integrating different disciplines to overcome communication and design problems. A junior business development executive is a resource tasked with the job of helping the business grow and therefore, they should be high-level sales professionals.

Main priority is to assist VOLTA to acquire new customers and sell additional products or services to existing ones; this means the role is a crucial one for any business with the ambition to expand or the necessity to diversify its clientele.

Business Development Responsibilities

A business development professional has three primary responsibilities:

- Identifying new sales leads
- Pitching products and/or services
- Maintaining fruitful relationships with existing customers

When it comes to generating leads, day-to-day duties typically include:

1. Researching organisations and individuals online to identify new leads and potential new markets

2. Researching the needs of other companies and learning who makes decisions about purchasing

3. Contacting potential clients via email or phone to establish rapport and set up meetings

3. Planning and overseeing new marketing initiatives
4. Attending conferences, meetings, and industry events

When it comes to the challenge of actually selling, other typical duties include:

1. Preparing PowerPoint presentations and sales displays

2. Contacting clients to inform them about new developments in the company’s products

3. To Assist the Managing Partner when Developing quotes and proposals

4. Negotiating and renegotiating by phone, email, and in person

5. To assist when developing sales goals for the team and ensuring they are met

6. To keep healthy relationships with clients, this mostly requires socialisation.

Junior Project Manager

Trainee Position at VOLTA Brand Shaping Studio (FY 2019)

Junior Project Managers assists in the management of multiple projects while providing project management advice to companies and organisations. They coordinate projects, schedules, track the progress of projects and report their results.

A Junior Project Manager will work under the direct supervision of a Senior Project Manager (Managing Partner) in an assistant capacity.

Junior Project Manager Duties and Responsibilities

In order to assist with project management, a Junior Project Manager performs many different tasks.

Assist Senior Project Manager

The Junior Project Manager’s central duty is to assist the Senior Project Manager. Often, they’re assisting with the tasks outlined below, but they may also be asked to perform clerical duties, maintain contact with clients and parties involves through email and phone calls, answer questions and concerns, prepare presentations, and enter project data.

Create Project Plans

Junior Project Managers develop concrete, detailed plans for a project, including the schedule, the budget, outlining the duties of each team members, identifying project goals, and setting a timeline for the project. They collaborate with various teams and hold meetings to develop project plans and present them to upper-level management before starting the project.

Monitor Project Progress

It is important that the Junior Project Manager closely monitors each project he or she manages to ensure that projects remain on track, meet deadlines, stay under budget, and develop according to plan. They’re responsible not only for identifying project objectives, but ensuring that they’re met.

Report Project Results

Once a project is complete, the Junior Project Manager, in conjunction with the Senior Project Manager, is responsible for gathering and documenting all project results and then reporting or presenting them to the appropriate parties. This usually includes clients and upper-level management. They should report on the success of the project and any setbacks that were encountered or room for improvement.
